    3. Carol-- Willard Jillson did several books listing the state records for military, land grants, appeals court, etc. One is a 2 volume set & the other just one fat volume. They are available in many libraries. Donna Does KY have any land records like the Land that would have been given to someone due to Military Service in the Am Rev War? If so, where can I find these? 2. Thanks to all. I tried Genforum again and all worked well. Today I am going to see if I can get my WebTv repaired! I loved the poem about the family tree. I think we have all seen the nuts and the bad apples. I for one think they are fun. Most of them are unremarkable and we need something to keep us going. Anne

    1. [KYMONTGO-L] Phillips
    2. Is anyone on list related to Phillips? I am trying to find out my James Phillips parents and were he came from. He first appears on the 1820 Montgomery Co. census. He is on 1830 and 1840. His wife is a widow on 1850. In 1810 there were: George, John, John, William, John and Samuel. In 1820: Brannock, my James, John, Philemon, William, Peggy, Samuel, Thomas, and William. By 1830 there is only my James, and a John. In 1840 my James and what I believe were his sons Charles and James. Does anyone have these Phillips in their family? Please Reply to my new email address: [email protected] Thanks, Janeen Davis Proctor

    1. RE: [KYMONTGO-L] 1850 census OH McDonnalds
    2. Thank you Jeannie, I will have to go and try to find the actual microfilms for these. It gives me something to look forward to. I didn't know there were so many Georges out there. Also Dear Ron, thank you, too, I probably have discussed the McDonnalds and/or McDannalds with you on the McDaniel list that we had going for awhile. I did check that George out that you mentioned. There might be a connection, but I couldn't find any at this time. My George McDONALD has not been mentioned as a Junior on any documents I have, but his sons' names were William or Thomas, so I am thinking of his father's name might have been William or Thomas. But I am looking at every aspect. Thanks for your suggestions. Lisa Whiting [email protected] Visit iWon.com - the Internet's largest guaranteed cash giveaway! 2. Ron Grabyan
    3. Lisa, I have a number of George McDannald's in my data base from VA, then KY, then IN. But, I have no reference to one married to Mary C. Maddox. There were a number of McDannold's (with an 'o') in Montgomery Co, KY in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Also, you might try the decendants of George Warren McDannald (b abt 1759, VA; d 5 Jul 1819, Fleming CO, KY; m 1778) and Mary Murdock (d aft 1819). Perhaps, some researchers of this family could help you. Ron Grabyan [email protected] wrote: > I decided I wanted to put this out there again. 1. [KYMONTGO-L] Michael CARPENTER 1765-1834 VA>KY/WV/IL/CA/IA
    2. Bob Carpenter
    3. Michael CARPENTER first appears in the History of Bath County(KY) as the survivor of an Indian ambush in 1788 at Stepstone. At that time Stepstone was in Bourbon County, VA, and subsequently fell in the jurisdictions of Clark, Montgomery and Bath Counties, in order. So far I have found no record of where he came from. Family lore carried to Iowa, through second son Levi's family, is that the family is of Germannic origin, and that Michael spoke German. Michael's youngest son, Harvey, used the name ZIMMERMAN on a 1830 land transaction. If anyone has a CARPENTER or ZIMMERMAN family missing a Michael born about 1765 then I sure would appreciate hearing about his parents and siblings. Would also like to find out some background on Michael's son- and daughter-in-laws, particularly Cyntha(or Scytha) MOORE.
