Steve, I have reason to think that my ancestor Sarah, wife of Joseph Turner and later wife of William Smith, was a Young. She was born c1754 in Bedford Co., Va and came to Fayette Co., Ky and later to Montgomery and Bath Counties. This is about all I know about Sarah.. In your research, have you run into this family? In Montgomery Co., I'm hunting for the following folks. They are accounted for 1810 & before, & after 1810. Found a, 1808 deed in Madison Co., KY saying Jacob & Priscilla were residents of Montgomery Co. Haven't found them in a Census index for 1810 & what records I have looked at for Montgomery Co. have been no help. At most, they may have been there about 5 years. It is possible that Jacob's uncle George Miller may have gone there too. Jacob Miller, b. c1756 Augusta Co.., VA, d. c1836 Fulton Co., IL m. Feb 1788 to Priscilla Estes, b. 1770 Greenbrier country, VA 1778-1786 in Indian captivity in OH d. 1860 KS or MO their children: Mary, m. in Estill after 1810 Jacob Jr., " John " Elizabeth " Nancy " Sarah " Margaret " Delilah " in 1821 George " Elsie " in 1823 Priscilla, m. c1831 in Fulton Co., IL

Happy New Year! These are my names in Montgomery and adjacent Bath Counties of KY in early 19th century. I've haven't done very much at all in the past year regarding research. Most recent ancestor is first, and only names that migrated to or were born in Montgomery or Bath are listed. (My great-grandmother Alberta JOHNSON left the area sometime after 1850 and married Francis MADDOX from Jefferson County around 1871. But they may have been married in Missouri.) JOHNSON (Alberta, Richard, Moore ...?) Don't know from whence Moore came from or what happened to Richard (b. 1823). OWINGS (Mary, Samuel, Elihu, Joshua) Not positive of Mary's birth (ca. 1830) or death (1858 or 1870) HALL (Mary Ravillon, James ...?) Not much on this line. COLEMAN (Lucy Chiles, George ...?) Not much on this line. RINGO (Margaret Peggy, Joseph, Henry) HOWE (Elizabeth) Not much on this line. MAJOR (Margaret) RATLIFF (Mary Ann, Zephaniah) STONE (Philadelphia) ...Bob Maddox [email protected]

Happy holidays everyone! I need the family names of George Swope present in the 1810 census of Montgomery County, KY Regards, Jim
I've done on site research. Some of their materials are excellent. Don't expect a lot of help, however. The librarians do not seem to be aware of the excellent resources that they have or how to make best use of them. Some things have "walked" as a result. They have the phone number of a local genealogist. The Court House ended up being my best resource. Write to me personally at [email protected] and I will give you more details. Tell me what kinds of things you are mainly interested in. I'm from Cincinnati and have done research in Mt. Sterling on three ocassions. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Melody Schumann-Herb Sent: Sunday, January 06, 2002 4:06 PM To: [email protected] Subject: {not a subscriber} Re: [KYMONTGO-L] roll call-ORME, MARTIN, LINVILLE families; researching ORME and RUDD families in INDIANA Happy New Year to everyone! My name is Melody and I am new to this forum. I find it very exciting to read everyone's emails about their ancestor's. I especially like the way everyone helps each other. A previous discussion on Mt. Sterling research at the library and courthouse was helpful to me. I might take a trip (I live in NJ) or perhaps pay someone to do the searching for me. My Montgomery County-Mt. Sterling connection is my Great G Father- John Hargis Orme: b: March 18, 1881 KY, d: August 09, 1952 Indianapolis, IN. He married: Nannie Elizabeth Martin-married abt: 1901 b: February 19, 1885 VA, d: December 25, 1964 Indianapolis, IN. They had my Grandmother: Floriene Orme on April 12, 1902, born in Mt. Sterling. Nannie Elizabeth Martin is said to have been an orphan. John Hargis Orme's parents were (I think) George S. Orme and Mary E. ?. John had a sister named Bertha and a cousin named Mary Linville. I am looking for any information about the family. I would especially like to get Newspaper Obits, and birth certificates for as many of them as possible. I have done some research on what is available in KY for birth certificates and I don't hold out much hope for getting my Grandmother's. 1902 seems to be a gap year where there are not alot of records. I am hoping that because she was born in Mt. Sterling that there may be a record there. Any assistance with the Orme, Martin or Linville families would be greatly appreciated. ************************************ --Melody Schumann-Herb

My name is Judy McCutcheon. I live in Tasmania, Australia. Researching: Wool, Woolls, Woolles, Wooles, Catanach, Cattanach, Cattnach We know that we had Wools in Kentucky by the late 1700's and that whilst a few stayed, many left to settle in Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, etc; Ditto with Cattanach's Catanach's. Grateful for anything on any of these names if you come across them in Kentucky records.
