I am looking for any information that can be provided on George McCullough, b 1802 Montgomery County KY and Rachel Yocum, b approx 1806 in KY. They were married in KY and moved to Clay County IN in 1832. It looks as though the Yocum family and McCullough family would relocate to another area together as a group migration. The Yocums are quite numerous in Clay County IN as are the McCulloughs. George was son of John McCullough, b 1-1755 in PA, and RW Veteran. John McCullough moved to Ripley County IN in around 1818 and had been on KY tax lists for about 40 years. I'm trying to piece together George's history in KY before he came to IN. George was my 2nd G GF Thanks for your time. Alan McCullough

I also have that connection, with my Swearingen line making that move. I suspect quite a few did at that time. They were divorced in 1853. I can't find him in 1860, but might have found him in Lawrence Co., IN in 1870 and in the following household in Montgomery Co., KY in 1880. ok molly marriage certificates are the hardest to get. They usually want you to know the exact date of marriage. Write to the County Clerk of the county of the marriage. While I am asking all these questions, I need to know what the cost of getting a copy of a marriage bond & who do I mail my money to? Thanks, Mollie Charles Pawlik [email protected]
The above appears on the 1810 tax list for Montgy Co.-no age but with 2 horses. Does anybody know who this was, also I have my PHILIP CHARLES on the tax lists for 1806-1808-1809 and the 1810 census. Can someone tell me who his wife was & the name of the son and 2 daughters listed on the 1810 census. There is also a JAMES CHARLES listed on the 1810 census & I would like the same information for him. Thanks in advance for any help. Mollie Charles Pawlik [email protected]
Can anyone tell me who the DOCK CHARLES was that signed as Surety to Moses BARNETT & ELLEN KING'S bond in Feb. 1874? Thanks Mollie Charles Pawlik [email protected]
Carol - I have an ancestor, John McCullough, who lived in KY in the same time frame as your Wools. Tax Lists put John Mc in four different counties over a 40 year period - Fayette, Bourbon, Montgomery and I think Jefferson counties. He may never have moved - the county lines changed so much over the years that he could have stayed on the same property the whole time and been in four different counties. I do know that Montgomery County was a LARGE county at one time and eventually became a dinky one. Just something to think about. Your ancestor and mine quite possible knew each other as they were in the same counties at about the same time frame. Alan McCullough
Hi Robbin, thanks for taking the responsibility of list mom and good luck. I am Carol Wools Blacketer of Tucson, AZ and I have the start of my family in Montgomery Co, KY (they were found under a rock in 1788!) Well, at least CHRISTOPHER WOOLS was on the Fayette Co., KY tax rolls in 1788. We don't know where he came from. They did live in Montgomery Co, KY and I assume from 1788. CHRISTOPHER, b: abt 1745, d: Jan 1801 in Mtg Co., KY Married Elizabeth (no last name), b: abt 1749, d: Sept 16, 1814 or May 20, 1810 in Mtg Co., KY They had 4 children: PHILIP b: abt 1771 ?, d: abt 1817, Wayne Co, IN - Married Hannah Wagle abt 1798. CATHERINE b: abt 1773, d: Oct 6, 1844 Mtg Co, KY. Catherine raised her nephew John Wools after her sister Peggy died. SUSANNA b: abt 1777, d: abt 1841, married John G. Smith DANIEL b: Sep 4, 1779, d: Jun 8, 1861 in Clay Co., IN married Elizabeth Butts abt 1805. MARGARET b: Sep 4, 1779, d: Dec 2, 1816 in Mtg Co., KY I have a lot of missing information. How did they get here from???England???? Where were they married? Where were the children born?? Where did they live before coming to Montgomery Co, KY? I need, birth, death and marriage certificates. Any help??? Thanks for any tip or tiny bit of information or comments.
Thanks so much for posting the website for care and preservation of old documents and photos. On another note, has anyone heard how the Kentucky Senate voted on limiting access to Vital Statistics? How would one check on the status of such law and to see how and who voted? Nola Thacker [email protected]

Since most of us are probably interested in information related to care and preservation of old papers, books, CDs, and other media, I thought this URL would be of interest: <http://www.archives.state.co.us/cpa/publications.htm>. ---------- Lee Hoffman/KY E-mail: [email protected] TMG Tips: <http://www.tmgtips.com> My website: <http://www.tmgtips.com/lhoffman> -------------- A user of the best genealogy program, The Master Genealogist (TMG)
Melina Skidmore b. 1821 in Powell Co (actually Montgomery or Estill Co at that time) Melina m. John Ledford c. 1838 and had 8 children, one of which, Margaret, is my G-Grandmother. I actually knew Joseph B. ("Uncle Joe") who passed in the late mid-late 40's. This is supported by two references. I have John Skidmore b. 1789 d. 1869 Harlan, m. Mary "Polly" Noe b. 1802 d. 1857. I will have to check my notes for sources of these dates. John & Mary are parents of Melina. Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara Ingram" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 16, 2002 1:31 PM Subject: [KYMONTGO-L] Skidmore > Monford Reed......do you have additional info on John Skidmore and Malene > Sidmore? > Barbara > > > > ==== KYMONTGO Mailing List ==== > To UNSUBSCRIBE send a new e-mail to [email protected] or [email protected] with nothing in the body of the e-mail except the word unsubscribe. >
The above married JOHN LARRISON, Aug. 1885, in Montgy Co. He was 19 born in Estill Co. There is no John b: 1864 in Estill, but there is 2 John's on the 1880 Estill census, 1 is 17 & 1 is 12. Can anyone tell me the correct on. I was sent the marriage bond by Janeen Davis that gives his name as JOHN LORRISTON. No such name on 1880/1900 censuses. Thanks, Mollie Charles Pawlik [email protected]
Welcome to our new list mama!!!!!!!!! J. W. CHARLES m: Belle NORRIS in 1890 Montgomery Co., my problem is that I can not find them in the 1900 census. He was also known as John W. & her name on the 1880 census was Fannie Bel NORRIS if she was the daughter of David NORRIS. I found a John & Fanie on the 1900 census in IN that is a very close match. Can anyone tell me what happen to them. Thanks, Mollie Charles Pawlik [email protected]
