Lynn, my grandfather was a Lewis. The Lewis, Martin, and Newman families of Monroe county were related thru several marriages. If this helps, I have a Rebecca Newman bn. abt. 1824 marrying an unknown Lewis and having two daughters with him. Jane Lewis bn. abt. 1852 and Mary Lewis bn. abt. 1855. In the 1860 census, Rebecca Lewis and her two daughters are living with Rebecca's brother, John Newman. Rebecca's husband, unknown Lewis, is not listed and I have presumed is dead. In the 1870 census Mary S. Lewis age 15 is still living with her uncle John Newman along with her cousin Mary Newman Martin, age 23, who has married a James Martin, age 26. If this Mary S. Lewis, age 15, is the Mary you are looking for, it would probably tie-in with her marrying a Martin also. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, June 05, 2006 8:12 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [KYMONROE] William G.
