Hi, I am at a standstill in my research on the William *Bill" H. Birge family who lived in Monroe County. His wife was Jane Frazier Birge. Many of his decendents still live in that area. William is on the census for 1840 and then on 1850 Jane is head of household. The youngest child was born in 1847 so I need to find out what happened to William between then and 1850. Does anybody whose family has been in that area for a while know if he died or went away or what? I know records were burned for that county and hard to find anything but can find no trace of him or who his parents were. Also his wife Jane was still living in 1865 but she also disappears and willed her land to her son James. They both came from Tennessee it is said. Their children were: John W. Birge married Lydia Headrick and went to Missouri James M. Birge married Margaret Bacon and stayed in Kentucky Harvey Birge married Sarah Billingsley and went to Missouri Thomas Birge married Elcy Hamilton and went to Indiana Mary Ann Birge married Robert Hamilton Elizabeth Jane Birge married John W. Billingsley Rebecca Birge married Peter Kelley and later James Bartley I am the great grandaughter of Harvey and Sarah Billingsley. If anyone knows where Jane or William is buried I would appreciate the info or anything about them. Thank you, Mary Birge [email protected]
