    1. VA to KY PATH
    2. Hi Susie; I have a wonderful map that was in the back of a book "Master Index Virginia Survey and Land Grants 1774-1791" pub. by the Kentucky Historical Society in 1976. The map is entitled: "The Great Settlement Area" and covers the land grants in the publication. The map shows a migration from Wadkin's Ferry on the Potomac River; down the Wilderness Rd. between the Shenanoah Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains to Staunton, VA and then (still on the Wilderness Rd.) to Cumberland Gap and then into KY. and all the way up to Crab Orchard and the Ohio River. The map shows the locations of the forts along the routes (very important) and the waterways and settlements and stations along the route. I'm sure that this was the route taken by my Campbell's who migrated from Amherst and Augusta Counties of VA. This has been a invaluable book for me in my research, and most libraries have a copy or you can request one with a library loan. Hopefully, the map is still in the pocket of the book inside the back cover, as it is separate from the printed book. Phyllis Pengilly in CA
