Dickie, There was a Blankenship family from Chesterfield County, Virginia, that had several members settle in Cumberland Co., KY, just north of present day Putnam Co., TN. You might look there for you're connection. I don't know if the Monroe County Blankenship family is related to those in Cumberland Co. but it's possible considering how unusual the name is.
