Thanks for the census everyone. This does help in knowing that the year of birth for Hershel matches all census ages and his SS death index date of birth. Which leads me to also believe that his father John Rouse did NOT die in 1890 but between 1896-1900 before the census was taken since Isabelle is listed as a widow. It is said that John and Isabelle are buried in the Liberty Cemetery in Mornoe Co. I don't remember if we took photos of their headstones two years ago when I was their for a family reunion or not. I will have to see if I can locate those photos and look to see if a date is given for his death. It is possible where the death date came from off of the headstone. Which would make me believe it was printed in error or someone in the family added the dates long after John had died and they just put the year 1890. Kristie Setser Keeping Genealogy Free.....
