Good Morning!!! This is Cindy White it has been awhile since I've been on this website. Moved to the country over the summer after many delays and setbacks. I'm still working on the Pitcock-Hammer-Chapman-Headrick-Fawbush families of Monroe Co., KY. Right now, I'm working to prove the death of Elizabeth Kelley Chapman's father. Elizabeth Kelley married John Chapman on 12 Nov. 1778 in Balitmore Co., MD. She and John moved to Washington Co., TN. in the early 1800's and on to Monroe Co., KY. in the 1820's. Did her father Charles Kelley & wife Sarah come with the Chapmans either to Washingon Co., TN. or Monroe Co., KY. I know that Charles Kelley was a partriot durning the American Revolution so he would have died come time after that from 1783-18?? Can't find him in Balitmore Co., MD. Would like to hear from other researcher of the above families. Cindy White Texas

Census, Rebecca ???? was born ca 1803 in NC. & Jesse was born ca 1804 in SC. Jesse is listed on the 1830 and 1840 Monroe County, KY. Census. Thanks in advance. Donna
Basil Cem in Monroe Co is listed in the Monroe Co Cemetery Book that is available from Gorin Genealogical Publishing. The following is given as the location: "On Cloyd's ridge and off the Old Temple Hill road." Basil Cem does not seem to be listed in the usual internet placename websites. If I knew the exact location of Basil Cem, it would help me to better understand something that I am working on now. Can anyone give me a more explicit location of Basil Cem? I put together a map (in PDF format) that shows Cloyd's ridge and the Old Temple Hill road. It can be viewed at the URL below: http://www.public.asu.edu/~moore/files/maps/basil.pdf Thanks Doug Moore -- |==================================================================| | J.Douglas Moore Mathematics.. http://math.la.asu.edu/~moore | | [email protected] Genealogy.... http://www.public.asu.edu/~moore | |==================================================================| | Math Department Office: (480)965-3720 HOME: | | Arizona St. U. I have come across a marriage record of Molly Gentry to Thomas Wheeler, on March 19 1876 in Monroe Co KY. I have Thomas Wheeler in my database and in the 1880 census for Monroe Co, the wife's name is shown as Mary, born abt 1860. The birth dates match for Mary and Mollie. I know that Mollie is sometimes a nickname for Mary. Does anyone have any idea as to the parents of Mollie Gentry? I know there were several Gentry families in Monroe Co at the time. Thanks for the help. Colleen Lill Canada I used to have a life, then I started doing genealogy.
I'm hoping that someone out there might have a connection to a Thomas Wheeler that I located recently. According to the Monroe Co KY birth records for 1855, Thomas Wheeler was born Feb 18, the son of Nancy Wheeler. No father is mentioned. Nancy Wheeler (possible maiden name England) was the widow of James Wheeler, an older brother to my ggrandfather, Richard Wheeler. James had died about 1848/49 and as far as I'm aware, Nancy had not remarried. But it seems that there was a man in her life anyway!! (GG) In the 1860 census, Thomas was found living in the Flippen household with my ggrandfather, Richard. In the 1870 census, he is found living in the L Creek household. Does anyone have access to the 1880 census for MC? Does anyone have any further information on this Thomas Wheeler? Ideas about the identity of his father? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Colleen Lill Canada I used to have a life, then I started doing genealogy.
I need information on the following Smith family in Monroe Co., 1850 census, household 466-496: Samuel, age 64, born SC; Mary, age 61, born MD; Houston, 28, born KY; and Mary Ross, 16, born KY. Two doors away, in household 464-492, is John Smith, 34, born KY; Nancy, 25, born KY; Mary, 4, born KY; and William, 1, born KY. Neither family is found in 1860. Is the Samuel the one who is listed in vital states as having died on 29 August, 1855 at age 70? He is married, a farmer, son of L. and _____ Smith, and died of dysentery. Would welcome correspondence with anyone researching this Smith family. Is this the William Smith who married one of the Richardson daughters and moved to Cumberland Co. Did he have a brother, Sam Houston Smith, who married another of the Richardson daughters?
