Thanks for posting this. Marcus was married to Eliza Lou Genie Hunter, my grandfather's sister. I am hoping to locate living descendants of Marcus and Genie. He may have been called M.T. Their daughter Roxie married Sherman Hale. If anyone has information on their descendants or perhaps photos of the family, please let me know. I have photos I can share of Eliza Lou Genie Hunter. I recently read a Subject Line pertaining to Sartain, however the text did not... Such a case reminded me that I have a couple of Sartain (et vars). Purely a test probe. Thomas N. CLARK to Elizabeth SARTAIN Mar. 2, 1843, Barren County KY William Winchester CLARK, the child of Joseph CLARK and Elizabeth Dunn PACE was born October 20, 1818, in Kentucky, married Caroline SARTIN, January 4, 1844, and had 3 children, died January 16, 1853, and was buried at the old Sartin place, better known as the Baldock-Shirley Cemetery, two miles NW of Summer Shade, Metcalfe County, Kentucky. (One researcher says William married Mary A. Carver in 1847.) Caroline Sartin CLARK married Stephen B. WHITE and moved to Paris, Edgar County, Illinois, where she and two daughters died, leaving one living. Children were Malissa D. CLARK, born ca. 1846, Sarah E. CLARK, born ca. 1850, and Cordelia A. CLARK, born ca. 1852. Thomas Nunn CLARK, the child of Joseph CLARK and Elizabeth Dunn PACE was born January 29, 1823, in Kentucky, married Elizabeth SARTIN, March 2, 1843, in Barren County, Kentucky. Elizabeth SARTIN was a sister to Caroline SARTIN and was born January 4, 1824, died August 6, 1900. Thomas Nunn CLARK died September 10, 1894. He, his wife, and eight children were buried at the Petty Cemetery, now known as Clark-Obe Franklin cemetery, two miles NW of Summer Shade, Metcalfe County, Kentucky, off the road to Randolph. Elizabeth CLARK was born January 4, 1824, died August 6, 1900, and was buried at Clark-Obe Franklin Cemetery. If these are of interest to you, I would like to talk/type with you. John D. I can't be sure, but maybe your Halls and mine are family. My Arnold N.says (W) but is N. is on page 200 of the 1900 Census your Marcus is on page 205 of the same census. they were both born in KY Arnold is 55 Marcus is 36. I haven't traced the Hall any further back, I do have the civil war record for Arnold, and haven't transcribed it yet. . There is also a statement signed by a M. T. Hall. If you would like me to scan the one with the M. T. Hall, I can do that. Do you have are know anything on a death certificate for Marcus? Listers, Can anyone confirm or deny that: Neal Cemetery, Monroe County, Kentucky is the same as Flippin Church of Christ Cemetery: Monroe County, Kentucky? I am trying to sort out a person by the name of I. N. DENHAM, b. 24 Dec 1829 d. 14 Aug 1897. I find this person listed as buried in both locations. Thanks, John D. Sissom [email protected]
When Winford Fawbush married Ester Smith in 1913, most of Monroe County turned out for the wedding. A photo was made of the outdoor wedding reception, and I am hoping someone has it and will scan a large MB copy of it for me to include in a book that has the story of the Fawbush wedding and shivaree.
Greetings, Just wondering if anyone is researching the DENHAM line in Edmonson County, Kentucky, in the period c. 1860 to 1930? It is my understanding the earlier residence was in Jackson County, Tennessee, between 1830 and 1850 or so. It turns out some went to Monroe County, Kentucky about 1820. Names of interest include: Charles Denham b. 1835 Isaac Newton Denham b. 20 Oct 1866 Cleo Denham b. 04 Sep 1893 Charles Ward Denham b. 13 Jun 1892 William Sanford Denham b. 14 Feb 1860 David Denham, Sr. b. Abt. 1792 David Denham, Jr. b. 07 Jan 1836 I am having difficulty associating the above two groups. I would like to compare notes. John D. Sissom [email protected]

Thanks for the census everyone. This does help in knowing that the year of birth for Hershel matches all census ages and his SS death index date of birth. Which leads me to also believe that his father John Rouse did NOT die in 1890 but between 1896-1900 before the census was taken since Isabelle is listed as a widow. It is said that John and Isabelle are buried in the Liberty Cemetery in Mornoe Co. I don't remember if we took photos of their headstones two years ago when I was their for a family reunion or not. I will have to see if I can locate those photos and look to see if a date is given for his death. It is possible where the death date came from off of the headstone. Which would make me believe it was printed in error or someone in the family added the dates long after John had died and they just put the year 1890. Kristie Setser Keeping Genealogy Free..... I need to find John or Isabelle Rouse in the 1900 census of Monroe Co. I don't know who gathered the information on Isabelle and John Rouse but to me there is no way some of this can be accurate. Isabelle is listed as Bell on the 1920 census widowed. John supposedly died July 11, 1890 in TN. But yet my uncle Luther was born April 7, 1891. OK funny but wouldn't Isabelle had to conceive within a few days before John died? The old saying or "He died one happy man". OK John and Isabelle's son Hershel Rouse was born July 12, 1889 but he is only 14 years old in the 1910 census. His death record on the SS Index says he was born December 17, 1896. This year of birth matches him being 14 in the 1910 census. But this again goes against John dying in 1890. If John did die in 1890 then who is the father of Hershel Rouse????? I think maybe John died in 1900? Hershel is on the 1920 census listed as age 22 (hard to read) but this would match the year of birth 1896. Kristie Setser Keeping Genealogy Free.....
