Toad Doctor, Leech Bait & Eater Of Mortal Sin: How Our Ancestors Earned A Living In The 18th - 19th Centuries I know life was tough in "the good ol' days," an article by Sara C Nelson shows just how tough it was. Would you want to have an occupation of toad doctor? Even worse, how about being leech bait? Those occupations were found on family history website Genes Reunited. 18th Century Tombstones Deciphered with new 3D Technology Grant Aylesworth has begun a project, in partnership with the archaeological services unit of the Government of New Brunswick, reading “illegible” tombstones from the 1700s using 3D software technology. Aylesworth, an anthropology professor at Mount Allison University, and the team that he heads has been able to read previously illegible inscriptions on 250-year-old tombstones using 3D software models derived from photos taken with a regular digital camera. “This new technology is enabling us to digitally preserve the old tombstones, important for many researchers, most notably historians and genealogists. More importantly, this has allowed us to bring back the name of a person that was lost to history, before we get to the point that there really is nothing left to read,” says Aylesworth. Yooo hooo ya'll. Do any of ya'll have any info on a son of A kin FGerald named John (Henderson) FGerald b. abt 1827 Monroe CO. I found info that he was md. to a Nancy Thomas Greenup 1854. What I 'm curious about is whether he was md. before Nancy. Also found info from a Claudia Kerr that states this John FGerald was the father of my gg-grandpa John Aiken FGerald b. 1840-1842 Monroe CO,KY. The parents of John Aiken FGerald has been an on goin' mystery in my family. We believe my John is in the 1850 Monroe CO, KY census in the household of Aiken FGerald as is John (Henderson) FGerald ,his "possible" father. We thought that maybe Aiken FGerald "may' have been his father but he's 8yr old and placed after the older children and Aiken was gettin' a little long in the tooth for a child in that age group! Then there's his name John Aiken FGerald.......... could have been named after his father and grandpa?????? Thanks!! Greg Henderson Louisville,KY

I am researching WHITE and TAYLOR in Monroe County. Time period: 1820's to 1850. Joseph White married Salina Taylor, probably around 1825-7. They had the following known children: Samuel, James S., Mina/Anna, Harrison T., Sarah E., Austin, Wilford A., Mary J., Eliza/Elizabeth/Allida, and Joseph E. The family moved to Pulaski County, MO around 1850.
