    2. Monroe County , Kentucky Cemetery Records Revisited by Sandra Gorin lists two Page cemeteries: Page Cemetery, located in the Persimon section of Monroe County, and Page-Biggers Cemetery on Highway 1049 going from Tompkinsville, across from the Bray home in the 1970's: There is no Anderson Page listed in either cemetery. The Page Cemetery has Page, W.J. Oct 23, 1859 - Dec 24, 1917; and Jennie Parthena, Oct 7, 1860 - Jul 9, 1916 w/o J W Page. The Page- Biggers Cemetery has: Eisaphena Page, Sept 3, 1860 - Sept 12, 1877 d/o JB & E Page; Marinda Page Nov 151856 - Aug 19, 1876 d/o JB & E Page John B Page, Capt. 3. I also have a Carter connection in Monroe Co. The sister of my ggrandfather (Richard Wheeler) was Mary Wheeler. She was married to Thomas Carter after 1840, likely in Monroe Co. I know very little about Thomas, other than he was likely born in VA or TN abt 1825. The Wheeler family moved from Greene CO TN to Monroe Co abt 1834. Thomas Carter died abt 1872 in Monroe Co. Known children: Dinah Margaret Carter b 1847 Sarah E b abt 1852 Simon T b abt 1856 Frances T b abt 1863 Thomas 1863 (twin to his sister Frances). Dinah was married to Turner Goodall England Sept 1865 in Monroe Co. The family moved around abit - McDonald Co MO, then eventually settled in Okmulgee Ok. Due to the lack of records in Monroe Co, I haven't been able to find out much else about the Carters and I haven't got any info at all about Thomas Sr's parents, siblings etc. Perhaps this will help you in some way. regards, Colleen Lill Canaa > > In a message dated 9/28/2005 12:37:20 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > [email protected] writes: > > I believe this is Henry Conway Carter who married Nancy M. 3. By the way, you can pick up Philip Penn Carter's middle name in the 1900 Allen County census (Puncheon Dist., of course) 191/195. The 66 year old is shown with his wife, "Virgini" with the name "Penn Carter." I may have to re-research these folks as they say they have been married for 34 years. Since the time is the same, I am assuming they were married to each other for that amount of time. So I'm not sure where Margaret Harris comes in. CARTER, PHILLIP P. Spouse: HARRIS, MARGARET J. Marriage Date: 11 Nov 1871 Co.: Monroe State: KY You can see in that 1900 census that Philip was born October 1834, his twin brother had died 3 years prior, but he had a marked grave marker in Akersville Cemetery, giving his birth date as 23 Oct 1834. >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [KYMONROE] Henry C. 3. I believe this is Henry Conway Carter who married Nancy M. Murphy 20 Jan 1842, Barren Co. KY. The only child I have for them is Samuel A. B. Carter, born 01 Aug 1853, but there certainly could have been others, and probably were. I just haven't gone down that branch. I believe Henry's father to be Joseph Adock Carter, and his mother to be Sarah Carter, daughter of Joseph Sr. Carter and Mary Bell. Mary said she was born in Monroe County when she married Hiram Jent in Allen County... I'm thinking county lines moved rather than folks. Philip was married to America Celsor in 1849, Margaret Harris in 1871, and Lastly to a Virginia. My husband's ancestor, Joseph T Carter remained married to Synthia Adaline Shaw, cousin to his brother's wife, Selia. These folks can be found in Allen County, but stayed in the Puncheon area where Barren, Monroe and Allen meet. I merely have a John as a father to Joseph Adcock Carter, but siblings as Joseph Pendleton Carte, Winny Ann Carter and William Brockman Carter. War soldier Henry Carter of VA. Henry arrived in Barren Co about 1801 from Fauquier Co VA but was a native of Spotsylvania Co VA. There was a Joseph Carter of Monroe Co Ky who gave affidavit for his brother Philip Carter of Barren Co KY, also from Fauquier/Spotsylvania Co Va. I have been unable to connect Philip and Joseph to Henry. According to the 1840 Barren Co KY Census, William P. Carter had 4 male children ages 20-30, only one, John P. of Barren Co has been identified. There are also 2 unknown females age 20-30 which could be daughters or daughter-in-laws. There are no male Carter marriage records in Barren Co that fit these men. Since Monroe is a border county to Barren, I thought it might be possible that Henry C would have been named for his grandfather. The middle name of Penn runs through this family as it was the maiden name of Henry Sr's wife Frances, if that is any clue to Henry C's descendants. Thanks for any assistance with Henry C. b abt. 1822 KY, that can be provided. Sharon Tabor
