    2. Thanks for the correction. The church in Flippin Kentucky is the Indian Creek Baptist Church. Neal Cemetery is the larger of the cemeteries in Flippin. Don't blink when you drive through Flippin or you will miss it. It is just a crossroads. Lots of rich history in the Indian Creek area of Monroe County. Four + generations of my family have lived and farmed in the area since about 1830. Just before you get to Flippin driving south on Hwy 249, there is a small cemetery named "Wards Cemetery". It is on the left side of the road. Three new markers were added to this cemetery this year to honor my ancestors that first settled in the area "Elzia and Elizabeth Arterburn" and two markers for two sons (Thomas and Elijah) who were killed fighting for the Union with the Kentucky 9th Infantry Regiment in the Civil War. We have never found the true burial site for any of the them. Anyone wishing a photo of the markers can e-mail me for a copy. I would estimate that Flippin is about 25 miles east of Scottsville. It is in Monroe County, south of Lamb and north of Gamaliel. Mike

    3. Interesting, you a little incorrect. Flippin does have 2 churches, 1 being Indian Creek Baptist Church and 2nd the Flippin church of Christ. I have never heard of Bethel Baptist Church in Flippin, unless it is the same as Indian Creek, but that name has been used for over 60 years. I live very close by and drive thru Flippin on my way to visit my parents in Gamaliel....Neal Cemetery and Flippin church cemetery is still used today. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Monday, September 11, 2006 6:13 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [KYMONROE] Laura Desmond Green Flippin Kentucky is nothing more than a crossroads. 2. I don't have the info. you requested but Mill Creek Baptist Church is still there and many of my Grinestaffs are buried in the church cemetery. Mill Creek was once located at the Mulkey Meeting House and moved because of a difference within the church body. Mt. Poland Baptist Church is located south of Tompkinsville and also has a large cemetery. Grinestaff and Musgrove are also my lines but only Curtis names as a spouse. What I have: Leroy Curtis married Marinda Grinestaff in Monroe Co. 1857. May be son of Gerusha Curtis. He may have been married prior to Marinda as the 1860 census show two children, Henderson born 1854 and Catherine born 1856. I can tell you that the Grinestaffs and Musgroves were neighbors living south of Tompkinsville near the Mt. Poland Baptist Church. Sorry I can't help much on your Curtis line. Mike
