Other Shakertown, as it's known here in Mercer Co, things to enjoy....their food is wonderful!! much of it grown on their grounds. During the summer, for a small fee, they have a wonderful draft horse drawn carriage that takes you on a tour of the grounds & give you some of the local history. If you have horses, you can transport there & they will let you ride them over much of the 1,000 plus acres they own, as long as you close the gates behind you!! Beautiful country to ride in! Shaker's Landing, across the road from Shakertown, has a Ferry which will take you down the river, give you history of the area & also to see High Bridge... have snacks on board....just a wonderful quiet, scenic, interesting trip. The Harrodsburg Historical Soc. does research for a small fee. They can be reached at 859 734-5985 Tu thru Sat 1pm-4pm.
