This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Ray, Duncan Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gBB.2ACI/2589.1 Message Board Post: I am a direct decendant of General James Ray. I have an growing collection of information on his family and relations, including Hugh McGary, Elizabeth Buntin Talbott, the Yocum sisters, and my line coming down from his daughter Mary "Polly" Ray who married Martin C. Duncan in 1806 in Mercer Co. Kentucky. The Shawnee Springs Station four miles from Fort Harrod became the seat of early Kentucky political and economic influence (several of the early governors of the commonwealth had connections to these adjoining land claims). I have digital photos of some of the early grave sites in Mercer (Ray, Talbot, Grapevine Christian Church) and in Anderson (Duncan-Searcy School Rd.) and in Woodford (Nonesuch) where members of the Ray, McGary, Talbot, Duncan, and Yocum families were buried. Would like to hear from interested family who share this common ancestor who saved the fort several times with his fleet speed and keen eye. I would like to learn more about the relations and history of these people and will share what I have read, learned, and seen.
