Born October 9, 1924 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Dave and Sonora Collier Catlett. He was a member of the Bethel #1 Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon, elder and financial custodian of the cemetery fund. He was a retired farmer and a 24 year Corning employee. He served on the Mercer County Extension Council and was a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include: his wife, Catherine Wickersham Catlett, Mercer County; one son, Ricky (Regina) Catlett, Mercer County; two daughters, Jean (Johnny) Currens and Lana (Hugh) Bullock, both of Mercer County; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Cecil, Marvin, Charlie and Luther Catlett, and three sisters, Hazel Buckley, Gertie Leonard and Bernice Catlett. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 1, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Gary Allen and James Byrd officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cary and Stephen Keebortz, Brent Currens, Bill Brown, Roland Arnold Jr., Jennifer and Christina Catlett, Cathi Chumbley and Josh Pendegrist. Honorary bearers were Woodrow and Daryl Catlett, Melvin Mullins, Bill and James Wheeler, Hubert Turpin, Dale Heise, Roy Bonta, James Land, Lee Thompson and Jessie Spaulding. Memorials are suggested to the Bethel #1 Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the church cemetery fund, or one’s favorite charity. (HH Thu Sep 6, 2001)
