Born Oct. 7, 1902 in Polly’s Bend in Garrard County, she was the daughter of late Richard D. and Ida Shultz Woods and was the widow of Richard (Dick) J. Davis. Mrs. Davis, along with her late husband, were former owners and operators of Gwinn Island Resort. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church (past president, United Methodist Women) in Danville, a graduate of Bethel Academy in Wilmore and attended Asbury College and EKU (formerly Eastern Kentucky State Normal School). She also had worked as a teacher in the Manse community near Paint Lick. Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Betty) Watts, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Floyd Woods, Danville, and Chester Woods, Lakeside, OK; two sisters, Martha Burkett, York, PA, and Ginny Sands, Hebron, OH; two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ezra Woods, and four sisters, Belle Baker, Carrie Price, Bea Webb and Frances Zoller. Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor and Wade Arp officiating. Burial will be in the Old Paint Lick Cemetery, Paint Lick. Visitation will be at the chapel from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and after 7:30 a.m. Friday. Pallbears will be Bill Watts, Wesley Watts, Michael Sanders, Frank Naumann, Norman Zoller, Ron Zoller and Ken Zoller. Memorials are suggested to Centenary United Methodist Church, 119 S.
