Compton, 75, of Lexington, died Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at St. Joseph hospital in Lexington. A native of Bohon, he was a son of Viola Burton Lester, Lexington and the late Russell T. Compton. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a graduate of Harrodsburg High School, Chief, U. S. Navy (retired) and a model train builder. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: four daughters, Norma Hungate, Harrodsburg, Cheryl Butler, Louisville, Debra Copeland, Orlando, FL and Marette Sopris, Milton, FL; one sister, Jane Compton, Lexington; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Byron Compton. There will be no visitation. A burial at sea will be conducted by the U. S. Navy. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington in charge of arrangements. (HH Thu Oct 18, 2001)
