Magnolia Street, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born September 29, 1952 in Fayette County, he was the son of Price Gentry Smith and the late Rev. Charles Henry Smith, Sr. He was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School, a USMC Vietnam veteran, a former employee of Southern Railway and ATR in Danville. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Harrodsburg. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: one daughter, Katoba Tioka Jenkins, Fayetteville, NC; three brothers, Charles H. Smith, Jr., Savannah, GA, James R. Smith, Harrodsburg and Dale W. Smith, Detroit, MI; two step brothers, Albert and John Mitchell, both of Harrodsburg; five sisters, Irene VanDyke, Urbana, OH, Almetra Smith, Fairfield, OH, Debra Ann Raines, Lexington, Angela “Annie” Smith, Harrodsburg, and Laura Sue Hall, Katy, TX; one grandson. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 18 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Virgil Hill officiating. A private burial was held Monday, August 20, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County. Pallbearers were Carl Bartleson, Larry Bartleson, Michael Dunn, Johnnie Johnson, Yohance Melendez, and John Lamont Mitchell. Parks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (HH Thu Aug 23, 2001)
