Born March 30, 1947 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Emma Morgan Griffin of Harrodsburg and the late George Calvin Griffin, Sr. He was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond. He was a member of St. Peter AME Church and a real estate agent for Century 21 in Highland, CA. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Diane Griffin, Highland, CA; one daughter, Kimberlyn G. Victoria, Springfield, OH; six step children, Crystal Phelps, Tucson, AZ, Sherry Johnson, Perris, CA, Christina Preston and Dianna Hopper, both of San Diego, CA, Elvira Vega, Highland, CA; four brothers, Charles and William Griffin, both of Harrodsburg, Gregory Griffin, Springfield, OH, Larry Griffin, Columbus, OH; two sisters, Yvonne Griffin, Chattanooga, TN, Sarah Griffin, Harrodsburg; 26 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, at the Parks Funeral Home with Bro. J. D. Short, III officiating. A private family scattering of the ashes will be held at the gravesites of his father and grandparents in Maple Grove Cemetery. There will be no visitation. (HH Thu Aug 02, 2001)
