(Linkey) Mays, 61, of 615 Storey Avenue, died Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born May 17, 1940 in Barbourville, he was the son of Jewell Mays of Danville and the late Bentley T. Mays. He was a retired employee of Lexmark and a former horse trainer. He attended Bate School in Danville and was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board and was a trustee. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Arnetta M. Mays, Harrodsburg; two sons, Sean Steven Mays, Louisville, Jeremy Mays, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Arnee Mays Payne, Cincinnati, Sonja Mays Taylor, Nashville; three brothers, Butch Mays, Lexington, Marvin Mays, Louisville, and Wendell Mays, Danville; four sisters, Mary Johnson, Louisville, Rosa Smith and Judy Terrance, both of Danville, and Anita Covington, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 15, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Virgil A. Hill, officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Andy Harris, Leon VanDyke, Jr., Wallace Parks, James Thurman, Scott Jones and Larry Hudson. Parks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (HH Thu Sep 20, 2001)
