Surnames: Mattingly, Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gBB.2ACI/2954 Message Board Post: SISTER THERESE MARTIN MATTINGLY Sister Therese Martin Mattingly, 94, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph in Maple Mount, Ky., died Oct. 20, 2001, at Mount Saint Joseph Motherhouse. She was in her 74th year of religious life. A native of Loretto, Sister Therese Martin was an educator in Kentucky parochial schools for 55 years. In 1954, she opened St. Andrew School in Harrodsburg and taught there until 1960. Her ministry also included St. Ann School, Howardstown; St. Columba, St. Denis, and St. Bartholomew schools, Louisville; St. Bernard School, Clementsville; Holy Name of Mary School, Calvary; St. Andrew School, Harrodsburg, and St. Paul School, Leitchfield. She was principal and teacher at St. Charles and St. Augustine Schools in Lebanon. From 1984 to l996 she served as outreach minister in Benton. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1996. Sister Therese Martin was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by several nieces and a nephew and the members of her religious community. Services were Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Mount Saint Joseph Chapel in Maple Mount and burial was in the convent cemetery at Maple Mount. Memorial contributions can take the form of donations in memory of Therese Martin Mattingly to the ministries of the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph, 8001 Cummings Road, Maple Mount, KY 42356.
