L. COCANOUGHER R. L. Cocanougher, 87, of the Pottsville community of Washington County, died Thursday, August 23, 2001 at the Cedars of Lebanon Nursing Home. Born February 18, 1914 in Washington County, he was the son of the late George Washington and Ora Purdom Cocanougher. He was the widower of Edna Logsdon Cocanougher. He was a retired farmer and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Survivors include: two sons, George (Patsy) Cocanougher, Harrodsburg, Donnie Cocanougher, Lebanon; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Herman and Garland Cocanougher, and nine sisters, Mae Goode, Myrtle Pope, Margie Cocanougher, Flossie Harmon, Florene Milburn, Faye Whitehouse, Georgie Brady, Cleva Goode and Golden Cornwell. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 26, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home in Springfield with Rev. Oliver Hawkins officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers were George N. Cocanougher II, Mark Potts, Billy Dye, Terry Russell, Jeff Goode and Perry Riley. (HH Thu Aug 30, 2001)
