Born April 6, 1930 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Myrtle Northcutt Shanahan. He was a retired mechanic for General Motors, Chevrolet Division, and was a member of Local #262 Auto Workers Union in Livonia, MI. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Survivors include: his wife, Bettie Gene Peeler Shanahan, Coxs Mills, WV; two sons, Randy Lewellen, Howell, MI and Paul Lewellen, Redford, MI; three daughters, Teresa Potter, Farmington Hills, MI, Carol Riva, Dearborn Heights, MI and Kim Lewellen, Walled Lake, MI; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Boswell, Harrodsburg, Anabelle Miller, Louisville; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday, July 23, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. J. H. Burns and Gene Curtsinger officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Carlos Lester, Howard Lester, Gene Curtsinger, Bill Lester, Howard Nichols and Marvin Lawson. (HH Thu Jul 26, 2001)
