Surnames: Hall, Banta, Fallis, Pherigo, House Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gBB.2ACI/3374 Message Board Post: Since at least 1900, our family has cherished an old cast brass or bronze sheep bell, said to have been made by someone of our ancestors, and the assumption has been made the it had somehow come through our Banta family, but we can't seem to find any indicator that any Bantas did this sort of sandcasting. Some of our family names from Kentucky are Hall, Banta, Fallis, Pherigo, and House, and we have had connections in Mercer, Bourbon, Franklin, and Shelby Counties in Kentucky, and Jefferson County Indiana. Does anyone know of someone making cast bronze or brass sheep bells during the 19th Century in Kentucky or Indiana? We're on a fishing expediation here, and would appreciate any assistance in solving this old family anecdote. Jim Patrick tambaymar@aol.com tambaymar@aol.com
