Surnames: Jones, Campbell, Enos Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gBB.2ACI/1602.2133.1.3 Message Board Post: My Great Grandfather was Maartin Mitchell Jones Sr. (1806-1894). He was the son of Allen Enos Jones and Elizabeth Campbell. I'm sure of the record up to this point, then the line is confused by different stories. There is a fact or a joke that the father of Allen was a Martin Isaac Jones, or Martin's father was Isaac Jones. When Martin was killed by indians he was supposed to have been with a party led by a Captain Martin, or killed at a Fort Martin. Was it spelled Martin or Martain?? The next story is that Martin Jones real name was Martin and he was adopted by a Jones family. I am much interested in knowing the real facts. I just ran into a possible gold mine of info on our Sampson line and crossed my Sampson message to one person with my Jones message I was getting ready to send to you.
