I am looking for some kind soul, who has access to the Mercer County court house to do some look-ups for me. I have exhausted every other avenue I can in tracking down my elusive "brick-wall" ancestor. His name was William Edgar Robinson. I do not know where he was born or when. Do not know the names of parents or siblings. All I do know is that, according to Mercer County marriage records(provided by someone who had the records) that he married : Eveline (Evelyn) McCoun Cardwell on Sept. 10, 1840 in Mercer County, Ky. They had 1 son (my gggrandfather) George Cardwell Robinson b 1845 and possibly 2 daughters : Mary Charlotte and Jane. Suppossedly William Edgar died sometime between 1850 and 1860. I can find no references to him at all other than the reference of his marriage to Eveline. He may have been in the military and he may have been a farmer. His name could be recorded as either Edgar William, William or W E Robinson. Is there anyone out there who can help me out with this? I know that in the 1860 census of Mercer County, his wife Evelyn, is living with her father and her children in her fathers home. Her father was Col. Jack Cardwell who was married to Jane McCoun and when Jane died, married Margaret Ransdall. Evelyn Cardwell Robinson is buried in the same cemetary as her parents and grandparents (New Providence Presbyterian) in Mercer County. I do not see William Edgar or Edgar William buried there and do not know where he was interred, exactly when he died or how. I would appreciate any help I can get on this. I am willing to pay for copies, etc. of any information you may turn up. Thanks, Robin [email protected]
