Was this a common middle name for a Claunch whose initial was a G? The reason I ask is that I am trying, without success, to trace my great grandfather, John G. Claunch but I cannot find any reference to what the G stands for. All legal papers only has the G.

    3. Seeking info on Sarah "Sally" Cozine Demaree Blanton born 1781 PA died after 1855 probably Indiana. Sarah was taken captive by Pottawatomie Indians in Kentucky 1790 when she was age nine, released after Treaty of Greenville in 1795 and returned to her parents, near Fort Harrod, Mercer Co KY. She was daughter of Cornelius Cozine Jr (deceased), step daughter of Samuel Demaree Jr, grandaughter of Abraham Brewer/Brouwer and Leah Demarest, all of the early Kentucky Low Dutch settler group. Sarah later married Jesse Blanton. Efforts to ransom Sarah were unsuccessful during her captivity. I believe she was released in Detroit. Where was she held and how did she get back to her parents? I cannot find any newspaper accounts or other documentation on all those captives released in 1795. Sarah is a relative of mine. So far unable to document any direct descendants, or find more info other than a sentence or two in Draper's papers. Does anyone on the list have any suggestions or information to share? Hugs, Carolyn Leonard Remember you have a friend in Oklahoma -- endlessly sorting out dead relatives!
