My mother told me my grandmother went to live with some of the Bugg's after her mother (Emma Patterson Louallen) died her death was around 1915. If anyone has any information please contact me. thank you, C.Monroe csmonroe@alltel.net

They should have a list of who is buried there, even if there is no headstone. Check with the dept. that is responsible for death cert. for the time frame that you need. Sometimes it is the health dept of the county where she died. Sometimes birth or death certs are at the state level. I'll keep looking & if I find anything, I will let you know. Good luck in your search. Sharon skarns3@cox.net

I was told that the only church close to that is the Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mercer Co. Does anyone know if this church might be that old and if any baptism records might exist that far back? I am seeking information on his son William and his birthdate. Can anyone give me any guidance? Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so very much.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gBB.2ACI/3426.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Connie, I am the one that sent you the World War 1 draft registration notice. It is for your Charles Louellen & Emma. I have checked the Mercer Co., Ky census and you wouldn't believe how many different spellings there are of the Louallen name. Charles is found in the 1910 Mercer Co., Ky census: Charles Lualin,32, married 6 years(notice spelling on census) Emma, wife 33 Pearl, dau 4 Annie, dau 3 Marcus H., son (looks like 2/12) Emma had 4 children with 3 living. 1920 Mercer Co., Ky. Ben Allin, 79, widowed( again notice spelling) Charles, son 40 Anie(Emmie), 40. daughter-in-law Annie, daughter,45, widowed(daughter of Ben) Pearl, granddaughter,13 Annie, granddaughter,11 Margaret, grand daughter, looks to be 4 or 9 years. Ben Allin is the father of Charles Louallen. I checked this out in going back through the early Mercer Co., census. Annie Butler, born 3-7-1907 Mercer Co.,Ky died Harrodsburg, Mercer Co., Ky 5-4-1986. Vol # 27, Cert # 13256. 1900 Mercer Co., Ky:census A.Patterson, 55, born 7-1884, married 34 years Nancy, 59, wife, born 1-1841 Emma,22, daughter, born 1-1878 Harvey Bugg, grandson,12, born 2-1888 Dollie Claunch, graundaughter,12, born 2-1888 1880 Mercer Co., Ky census Armt Patterson,37 Nancy 39 Martha A. 12 John 10 Charles 7 Emma 2 Hope this helps you in your search. Surnames: Louallen/Patterson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gBB.2ACI/3426.2.1 Message Board Post: From what I have been told by my mother and other family members, Emma died when my grandmother was very young during childbirth in Florida, and I', assuming she was brought back here for burial because they said she's buried I believe the name was Ballard Cemtery or Patterson Family Cemetery. Also I've been told there were 2 Armstead Pattersons, One orginated from Virginia, I am unsure of the other but he was called Armpie. I don't have any dob for Emma, or of when she died. I did recieve an email about Charles this morning of a registration card of some sort, which states he was born Jan 7, 1879, with his spouse being Emma Patterson, living in Rosehill. I really don't know where to start looking because the places I have already looked have no record of either of them. Also on this registration I recieved this morning it has his signature but is signed Lewallen and not as I or my family thought was always spelled Louallen. It is very conffusing but I would so much love to ! find out something about them both.

Surnames: Louallen Llewellyn Patterson Devine Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gBB.2ACI/3426.2 Message Board Post: In reference to my reply elsewhere in this thread: Charles Llewellyn m. Emma Patterson in 1903, Mercer Co., KY. See marriage book 20, p.284. This is probably a different Emma Patterson than the dau of William and Elizabeth Devine Patterson. Either that, or this was a very late marriage for her (age 58 at the time), and she most likely did NOT have a dau Annie with Charles. Have you checked the 1910, 20 or 30 census for them? It might be good to check the 1900 census for them separately, too.

Charles Louallen died in 1956. Where? He was married to Emma Patterson, who you say is the dau of Armstead Patterson. Charles and Emma Patterson Louallen had a dau Annie, who married a man named Butler. Annie Louallen Butler is your Grandmother? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Greg Smith has a Charles and Emma Patterson Louallen online in his family tree: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:3173165&id=I063723 His Emma Patterson was the GRANDdaughter of Armstead Patterson (not the dau). According to Greg, Emma's parents were William and Elizabeth (Devine) Patterson. He has that Emma was born 8 Mar 1845 in Mercer Co., KY., and that she married a Charles Louallen (no date given). HOWEVER : I also have an Emma Patterson, dau of William and Elizabeth Devine Patterson, granddaughter of Armstead Patterson, born 8 Mar 1845 (same birth date and parents as Greg has). http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mercer&id=I1355 My Emma, though, was married to a Malory Carey in 1864, Washington Co., KY. I have no record of a marriage to a Charles Louallen, but that doesn't mean one didn't take place. Are all 3 of these the same Emma Patterson? If so, then your death date for Charles Louallen doesn't make sense, as he'd have been 110 +/- years old when he died. And Emma didn't really die all that young ... she died in 1915 (at the age of 70). This has intrigued me. What else do you have (specific) on these people to help us sort them out?
