I used to be a subscriber to Roots Web where I would enter a short geneaological thing and have it sent out over the roots web network and even back to me. I sent out lots of Slaten/Slaton information that way. My email list was uninstalled from AOL. I'm slowly building another list. What I need is the Roots Web email address to which I sent the information. Do you have it? Thanks, Joe Slaten

Hi, I am new to the list and was hoping to penetrate at least one brick wall. I am a new subscriber to this county site. I have an ancestor that I have been trying to find for years. Henry Sinnett was born in Mercer Co, Kentucky in1802. SINNETT brothers married STEERMAN sisters. Henry SINNETT married Elizabeth Steerman in 1830. Joseph SINNETT married Sarah Jane Steerman in 1827. Elizabeth and Sarah Jane Steerman are the children of Nancy BRIANT and Thomas STEERMAN. Thomas Steerman died in Daviess County, KY in 1827. I do not know who his parents are. Nor do I know the parentage of Henry Sinnett and Joseph Sinnett. The SINNETT family moved around KY: starting with Lincoln Co, Mercer Co, Ohio Co, Daviess Co, and Hancock Co, KY. Any help would be very welcome. Candee Hoff

Harvey died in Louisville on 14 Jan 1879 (family Bible); Mrs. Dorr (COZINE FAMILY HISTORY) said he had been killed. Unable to find any record in Jeff. Co. Coroner's inquestbooks or any other info anywhere, except Harvey’s youngest son David wrote a letter to his brother George seven years later, informing him their father had died at ‘Louisville where we were living at the time’. The COZINE family lived mostly in Mercer Co and most of the men were bricklayers. Harvey, who had 11 children by 3 wives, was born in Shelby Co, but is in Mercer Co census of 1840, 1850, 1860. In Fayette Co -lexington- 1870 and apparently moved to Louisville - Jefferson Co- a year before his death. By 1880 his widow and son are back in Lexington. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with more info on this line.

Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/gBB.2ACI/3431 Message Board Post: I ran across this and thought I'd post. Case History On an unspecified date in the late 1800's, a young woman checked into the Harrodsburg Springs Hotel in the small Kentucky town. She used a false name, and while no one knew her true identity, they recalled that she was beautiful. That night, as music played in the ballroom, the girl came downstairs and began dancing with various partners. The girl danced and at the end of the night, her final partner realized, that the young girl had died in his arms. The staff and guests held a funeral for the girl and she was buried on the hotel's property. The hotel is gone now. It burned down more than fifty years ago, although the grave remains in what is now a public park. There is a metal marker over her resting place that reads ... "UNKNOWN - Hallowed and Hushed be the place of the dead. Step Softly. Bow Head." As time has passed, local residents claim that the girl still returns to the site of the hotel. Harrodsburg, Kentucky is located about thirty miles southwest of Lexington on Route 68 and just a few miles north of the Perryville Battlefield. The city park where the hotel once stood is located in the center of town. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Investigators If you have any information concerning this case, please contact: The Doe Network Todd Matthews
