Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gBB.2ACI/787.662.2.2.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Hi Shirley & Fred. Fred is correct about the name of John Mayes who died in 1800, Mecklenburg VA. I was in error when I referred to him as James in an earlier message. Regarding family photos, I have scanned several of them. I can send images of Richard G. Mayes (1949-1910), Vernon Mayes (1883-1976), and, of course, my family. For Vernon, I have photos taken in his youth and later life; also one of him and his 11 siblings taken at one of their 50th birthday gatherings in the 1930's or eraly '40's. My brother and I visited Katherine Mayes Graham in Mackville last summer. She was very gracious and showed us Fred's family photo as well as the old one with her in it as a young child. She also gave us directions to the old Mayes cemetery, which we visited. Interestingly, she did not know there existed a closely related Mayes clan in Willisburg, just 10-15 miles away. So, we did not find any information about our line, but Ms. Graham gave me a copy of her branch of the family tree. By the way, I think I still have some digital photos I made of photos on display at the Gautney-Mayes annual reunion in Alabama a couple of years ago. We can exchange what we have by e-mail
