    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gBB.2ACI/2990 Message Board Post: while searching the 1850 fed Kentucky census - Mercer Co; I came across about 10 pages were the people were divided up by sex not family. There would be a list of about 30 females, then a list of about 30 males, all ages. There must have been a good 200 to 300 people. I was looking in Ancestry.com 1850 Ky Mercer Co. Dist 1 281, 282, 283 etc. At first I though it was several poor farms, then, from this message board found the Shakers; could this have been a listing of the people in Pleasent Hill? Could there be Shakers on my family Tree. Anyone know about the Seathers family, found several listed in this area. Penny Perry Kenmore, Washington

I haven't seen the 1850 census for the Woner family. I have seen the John Lawson family, but have not connected it as yet. I suspect the Woners' also lived in Washington Co. A very nice lady, named Mary, has offered to check on this marriage on Tuesday for me. What great people in Mercer County! I am so glad to have found this board... Lora

I have been collecting and posting notices from Florida papers on people with KY connections. I am not as regular in these postings as I had hoped to be because things come up like whole house carpet replacement because of a broken waterpipe, computer crashes and trying to parent a muley fifteen year old. The last of which is the most consuming. jhn

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/gBB.2ACI/2989.1 Message Board Post: Marriage bonds usually do have information about the parents included, primarily names and place of birth. My grandparents' bond from Mercer County, however, did not have the information filled in. Have you tried the census rolls for information?. For instance, the 1850 Mercer County census shows one Woner family, one Lawson family and a multitude of Dean families. What are the first names of the couple you are researching?

Most of my family originated in Mercer/Jessamine Counties. I need to know if the marriage records for the year of 1872 would have any information on the parents of the couple? My couple were married in Mercer County. Would appreciate any thing you can tell me before I send for a copy of the record. Thanks, Lora

    1. [KYMERCER] Mercer KY/Johnson IN WARDs
    2. Anne Gregory
    3. OK. Here we go. I am looking for any clues anyone can kindly provide to help me with my search for the parents and/or siblings of William H. WARD, my gggrandfather. According to all census records, William was born in KY abt 1815. According to his death certificate, he was born in OH Sept 1816. The son who signed the death cert didn't know the names of William's parents, so he was probably unclear on the place of birth, as well. William died in Franklin, Johnson County, IN 28 Jun 1903. He first appears in the Mercer Co, KY census 1840, then again in 1850, with wife, Jane, and children Merritt age 9, Elevin age 6, and Mary, age 5. In 1860 he is in Johnson County, IN in the household of Mary POWELL. He is with his wife, Nancy A., and children Elizabeth, age 6, and Jacob, age 1. In 1870 he is still in Johnson Co, IN, with wife, Nancy, sons Gates, James and Leaven. Also in his household at that time are Mary and Bell COMBS. William married Margaret GRITTON 30 Aug 1840 in Mercer Co, KY. Margaret was the daughter of William GRITTON and Jenney Jane LIPSEY. He next married Margaret's sister, Milliann Jane GRITTON 30 Aug 1848. He next married Nancy Ann LEWIS 06 Oct 1852. All marriages were in Mercer Co., KY. William's son, Elevin, was my ggrandfather. He was later known as Levon, with spellings any way you can imagine. He married Elizabeth Florence BROWN, daughter of Henry V. BROWN and Mary Ann TILSON, in Johnson Co, IN 04 Oct 1877. I have information on that descendancy that I would be happy to share. Anything on any of these people would be so great!! No piece of information is too small; maybe if I get something that I can add to what I have I'll finally be able to piece this together. Everything but the Tilson line is full of holes that I can't seem to be able to fill. Thank you, Anne :)
