I'm looking for any information on the family of Joseph SCHNEIDER / SNIDER / SNYDER. His daughter Mary Ann SNIDER married Harvey COZINE in Mercer Co KY in March 1830 according to the COZINE family history book. They had seven children and she died 2 Nov 1845, probably in Mercer County because Harvey Cozine remarried the next year to Rebecca COLEMAN in Mercer Co, she died soon after and he remarried in 1849 to Elizabeth TUMEY in Mercer Co. Then they moved to Fayette County. I am a descendant of the first marriage. These SNIDERs are supposed to tie to the VANARSDALE family and to the JAHNS family. Would appreciate hearing from anyone working on these lines, especially SCHNEIDER/SNIDER/SNYDER. Carolyn Remember, you have a friend in Oklahoma!

They were children of John B. Latimer (Latimore) who died 1814 in Mercer Co. KY and his wife Margaret Pruitt (Prewitt). Isham Prewitt Latimer came to Pike County Arkansas. Maybe your John Milton Latimer is related to our Melton (also called Milton) Latimer. I got this post off the Latimer message board--it is not mine, but has info about Milton: "Margaret is a daughter of Milton Latimer born in Mercer County, KY. Milton's father is John B. Latimer and his mother is Margaret Prewitt. John's father and mother are Samuel and Lydia Latimer. They migrated from Pittsylvania County, Virginia to Kentucky. Margaret's mother is Susan Kinsworthy. Milton and Susan were married in St. Francois County, Missouri in about 1823. They later migrated to Hempstead County, Arkansas. After Susan's passing, Milton married a Mrs. Ann Matthews. Milton had three children with the second wife. He died in Hill County, Texas in about 1860. (My ancestor, Isham Prewitt Latimer, also migrated to southwest Arkansas, to Pike County Arkansas, which then bordered Hempstead County.) Sorry I don't have it all sorted out, but I hope this helps you in your search nevertheless.

(Note: Last name is spelled Latimer in the Pruitt file). their son, John B. Latimore (d. 1814 Mercer Co. KY) and his second wife, Margaret Pruitt (m. May 30, 1803 in Mercer Co. KY); their son, Isham Prewitt (or Pruitt) Latimer (b. 1/8/1806 Mercer Co. KY with siblings Melton or Milton, America or Mercia, and John) and his wife Mary Caroline Henry (dau. of Rev. John Henry, prominent Methodist preacher), of SW Arkansas. 1850 census has Isham P. and his second wife, Mrs. A. J. Meers, in Pike County, Arkansas. their son, William Ross Latimer, civil war veteran (b. 1/29/1843, one of eight children born to Isham and Mary Caroline) and his wife, Rebecca Ann Melinda (Vaughn) Willis; their daughter, my grandmother, Mary Grace Glasgow Latimer (b. 12/25/1889) and her husband, Urban Jewel Glasgow; their son, my father, Thomas Courtlyn Glasgow, (b. 1918 in Howard County, Arkansas) and his wife, Fern Rosik Glasgow. I think my parents researched this family, and despite thorough attempts never really made the connection with Samuel back to the Connecticut Latimers. Do you know if there is a connection?

I cannot find a death certificate for Nancy Penney Witherspoon, born in Anderson Co., died (I believe )in Mercer Co. in 1924. I have written to KDLA for her death cert with no luck, also to Mercer Co. Can anyone suggest a resource for obituaries or cemetery inscriptions for this period?
