    1. 5th Annual Scott Co, TN Get Together Announcement
    2. Timothy N. West
    3. Many of you have been asking. We can tell you now that the logistics are beginning to finalize. The 5th Annual Scott Co, TN Researchers Get-Together will be held Tuesday, 31 May 2005, in Oneida at the Helenwood Baptist Church starting at 10am and going until we tire out. If you have research interests in the Scott Co area (and adjoining counties) then this is the event for you. Last year was a tremendous time and we exchanged a lot of useful information. So come prepared to share your histories, pictures, stories, and friendship. Parking is plentiful. We will set out a contribution plate to cover the cost of the room plus food and drink. Excess contributions will be given to the Scott County Historical Society. Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can plan appropriately by filling out the RSVP form on the Scott Co, TN website.. Some of you may be wondering why we are not doing the get-together during the usual 3rd week in June. The answer is the National Genealogical Society (NGS) annual convention/conference is being held in Nashville, TN from 1 Jun thru 4 Jun. Sue Posey and I are going to go to the conference immediately following the get-together. I only get to come to TN for one week a year so we moved the week up. I feel bad enough that Sam and Will (my daughter and son) won't be able to come this year because their school year won't be over yet. This will be the first time my daughter has not come down with me to TN---she's not a happy camper. Some of you may also be wondering why we are not doing the get-together at the FST Bank in Oneida like we've done since the first get-together. The room we used has a mold problem especially on the right side of the room (entering from the front of the building). FST Bank has not replaced the carpeting and the mold problem is getting worse--well, it bothers me. So we decided to make a change. BTW, I highly recommend attending the NGS conference if you can swing it. You will have access to the Tennessee Library and State Archives, the numerous conference sessions focused on TN research, and a vendor convention of all things genealogy (the biggest of year for the U.S.). Go to the link below if you want to learn more. You do not need to be an NGS member to attend. http://www.eshow2000.com/ngs/ ...tim west...
