    1. [KYMCCREA] Hangings in KY
    2. On the McCreary county site the list of people that were hung, there are 3 names missing according to the Henry County KY newspaper and the Richard Shuck deposition Robert Goodrich, Samuel Goodrich and Joseph Goodrich were hung also White, for robbery-murder, 27 July 1877 it appears that the people of the town broke them out of jail and hung them from Drennon Bridge. Thanks Gina

    1. Re: [KYMCCREA] Clarification to the McCreary site posting!
    2. It has been brought to my attention that the posting I posted below a few days ago might have been taken as a snipe at the old McCreary site owned and operated by Margy Miles. I want to say that this was not my intention in any way at all. I have the highest respect for Margy and her work. I also understand why she felt she had to leave. This posting below was only meant to introduce all of you to the new McCreary County KyGenWeb site and to my new assistant Janet, who is great. Also it was posted to try to solicit some contributions from you the people. My apologies to Margy if she saw this posting and took it the wrong way. My thanks also to the person who pointed it out to me that it might be taken the wrong way. Margy has before offered generously to share some of her information with us and we are now conversing with her on that same subject. Sorry for the inconvenience of this posting to all. But, take a look again at my original posting and if you can contr! ibute to the new site please do so. We are looking for anything to do with McCreary County. Just wanted to let you know that we have updated the new >McCreary > We have added some old pictures and >some > Also wanted to let you know that I have a >new >assistant, Janet McGill, so we will be able to add more faster now. >Currently we are working on the marriages, deaths, and census as fast >as we > As always we are looking for contributions from you all to make >the > If you would like to contribute please send all >information >to megansperky@yahoo.com >> Any information you >contribute >to this site will always stay with the KyGenWeb even if we decide to >move > This way you know that you will only have to contribute >your > Thanks for all your help and for your >patience. 3. Teresa, Hi. I will have my Mom look at the family photo this afternoon hopefully. She is supposed to come by here later today. I hurried and copied them from my Hotmail account because they have a limit to the account size. I have them all copied and removed from the hotmail account just in case you send more. I received 3 emails so far. In the photo's of John W. and Esker and Burl, which man is which? Thanks. 2. Hi All! Just wanted to let you know that we have updated the new McCreary County KyGenWeb site quite a bit. We have added some old pictures and some deaths, among other things. If you would like to contribute please send all information to megansperky@yahoo.com We make a new guarantee to you the people! Any information you contribute to this site will always stay with the KyGenWeb even if we decide to move on someday. 3. Joy, In the Stearns Employee Information book Ernest Ramsey is listed born August 20, 1916 in VA. He is also listed as the son of Demps Ramsey and Haley Wright. There is no Dempse or Demps Ramsey listed however it is possible he worked prior to the social security applications and he may have a work card that is available from the museum records. Hope this is helpful. 1. [KYMCCREA] Stearns Coal and Lumber Company Information
    2. Amy Clark
    3. For more information on the Stearns Coal and Lumber Company and it's mining communities. Your best resource would be Dawn Strunk, the McCreary County Museum manager in Stearns. She houses the 1939 photos which are available for sale and the book: Stearns Coal & Lumber Company Employee Information, which has valuable information. For more information on how to contact Dawn use the McCreary County Resource Link from my website www.clarkcombsclan.com You can also view an excerpt from the Stearns, KY & Its Mining Communities booklet on the feature link. I felt this information was important to pass on because those doing research often forget about Museums for resources. The McCreary County Museum in particular is very interesting because it is housed in the old corporate headquarters of the Stearns Coal and Lumber Company. --- Rich & Teresa <rtbrewer@earthlink.net> wrote: > Margy, > > McCreary Pioneers Cemetery Preservation Society does > wonderful work. 3. Margy, McCreary Pioneers Cemetery Preservation Society does wonderful work. Where would we be without you! I did mean to use the main link but had gone to the page to verify that the cemetery was online. I sure miss the mine information being online. Recently learned that my Grandmother Oma Freeman ran the Co-Op boarding house for years. (Wasn't sure if she ran Co-op or Fidelity boarding house until my visit to McCreary Co., Kentucky). Robert E. Stephens wrote the book, A LOST HERITAGE FOR A CHANGING PEOPLE, MCCREARY COUNTY KENTUCKY. What a wonderful resource for McCreary County, Kentucky. Without your dedication where would we be? Since Teresa mentioned my website I thought I would add a little information for you. I am in charge of the website for the McCREARY PIONEERS CEMETERY PRESERVATION SOCIETY and hosting it on my domain site. The MPCPS would be glad to have you stop by the site and look over the cemeteries. While you are there <http://www.pastseeker.com/mpcps> (please don't just go directly to the cemeteries via Teresa's link), please read about the MPCPS and consider giving them your support. They are a wonderful hard-working group of down-homers doing their best to clean up and preserve all the old cemeteries in the county. All of us who have family buried in the county should do everything we can to support them. Membership is FREE ... but they could sure use even a dollar or two to help with expenses if you can find it in your heart to help them out. They are sharing the cemetery records with you to help in your research ... also the funeral home records. Please consider doing what you can to help them also. Thanks so much for everything.
