In the late 1890's and early 1900's, several Rice men from Putnam county, Tennessee, settled near Woodville in McCracken County, Kentucky. These were: Jesse Monroe Rice (1863-1937), James Harvey Rice (1865-1930), and Joseph Douglas Rice (born 1871, and may have moved to Missouri). These men were brothers; sons of John Rice Jr. and Dorinda Caroline Massa of the 8th Civil District of Putnam County, Tennessee.
