My friends - Today's post takes us back to McCracken County and our review of the Vital Statistics marriage records for the period 1852-1869, with some scattered items in the 1874-1878, 1893-1894 and 1903-1904 time frames. Please bear in mind that, especially in the 1850's and 1870's, these early VS records are woefully incomplete and inaccurate. Only about 40%-50% of the actual births, marriages and deaths that occurred in those years ever made their way into the VS records. Subscribers to the JP and McCracken list can obtain the expanded information on a marriage in the listing below by sending a request to me. The detailed information usually contains the date of marriage, ages of groom and bride and where each was born. In some cases, the location within McCracken County where the marriage occurred is also present.
