I have a copy of a letter written from Paducah August 18 1888 which says: "Mr. Jones, Judge Gilbert has been in bed for a long time with inflammatory rheumatism and that case was not tried at the last term of court, but will come on at the September (1888) term. It is uncertain how it will go but if it goes against us we will take it to the court of appeals, and if necessary to the Supreme court of the United States. Yours jc Sgn. G.
