My friends - Today, we are moving up to McCracken County to continue our review of the Vital Statistics Marriage records for that county. Since we do have some new subscribers, I should probably mention again that these early vital statistics records are, at best, very incomplete and often inaccurate. Only about 40%-50% of the actual births, marriages and deaths that occurred in the counties in these early years ever found their way into the VS records. So any information found in these records should be carefully considered, especially if another source has conflicting data, and the absence of a birth, marriage or death from these early records should not necessarily be taken as a firm indication that the event did not occur. Subscribers to the JP and McCracken lists can obtain the full dataset for a marriage shown in the listing below by sending a request to me. These datasets usually include the names of groom and bride, the date of the marriage, the age of the parties, where each was born, and, in some cases, the location within the county where the marriage occurred. As always, your continuing assistance in not resending this entire message back to me with the request is appreciated.
