Cyrus was wounded at Shiloh, transported to Paducah, died 15 April. I suspect the hospital was a make shift one. His records contain records of his personal belongs, description of wounds, etc but nothing concerning to whom the body was released or as to the place of burial. I know he was born in Union county, KY, it may be a family member took care of Cyrus' remains. I was hoping that there might be hospital records and even a death certificate - however, due to the lack of record keepers and the vast amount of wounded and dead, I doubt any records where kept. Again, thanks, Marilyn.

My Kentucky/TN Newhouse family seems to have lived in Graves Co., McCracken Co., Christian Co. and Ballard Co., KY (also in Obion Co., TN) at various times so this is probably the right Ophelia. My gg grandfather, John T. Newhouse, was originally from VA so I find it interesting that the Smallmans also came from VA. I don't know what county John T. came from. I look at everything as a possible clue so I appreciate your help very much. Thanks again. Brenda

This Ophelia's father is William Smallman and mother Addie. Also listed are Wiley, age 20 and Booney age 10. This William Smallman is a brother to my line of Smallman (Alexander). This is probably the correct Ophelia for you since the Smallmans were in Ballard Co (in a location very very close to Massac) before going on to McCracken Co. William and Alexander are sons of Joshia Smallman who first came to Christian Co. KY from Halifax Co. VA (my first record shows in 1852 found on a Christian Co. poll tax record if my memory is correct). I know nothing about the Newhouse family, but do remember that name close by to where my grandparents lived (also Massac). Hope this helps you some.

My first request to the National Archives was a blank. My second request is pending. My best information is Dr. Watson was a confederate sympathizer (at least) and may have served as a private in the Confederate Cavalry. One of his sons born after the war was named Stonewall Jackson Watson, who died at age 14. Hi, Does anyone have know of a town named "Futrell" in McCracken Co? My gggrandfather, Nicholas Alexander Woolfolk, died in 1910 and is buried there. Thanks, Harry Owen Martin
My parents, Phil Wright and Lottie nee Brantley had some friends by the names of Yates. I believe they met them in the 1930s in Paducah. The Yates house had burn and my parents befriended them and remained friends until they all pasted away. I know very little about them but their names were, Ruben (father), Bobbie or maybe Roberta (mother) and children were William, Mildred, Imogene and George. Mildred lived in Paducah in the early 1960s and could still be there. Imogene lived someplace in KY. George and his family lived in the keys of Florida and I don't know about William. This is all in the same time period, this is were everyone was when my parents pasted which was in the early 1960s. Hope this helps. Julia (Wright) Molitz Wright, King, Armstrong, Brantley, Madden
