Clarinda applied for a pension on David Murrow's Civil War service. I have seen and taken notes from the file, but I do not have any photocopies. As I recall, Nicholas Applegate vouched for the marriage of Clarinda and David. I have looked high and low for that marriage and it's not to be found in Indiana or Illinois. It may have never been recorded, although there should have been a license. I saw on another of your posts that you have tried to get it from the Archives but they couldn't find the file. It's my experience that if you try 2 or 3 times, eventually someone will find it. I will make an attempt to get back to the Archives in the next few weeks to look at it again. I leave for vacation on Friday so it will have to be after I return. It will take me some time go through all my data, however, I believe the Benjamin Applegate you describe is the same Benjamin Applegate who died in Brown Co, OH in the 1840s. His wife was Rebecca Wall. I know of two of their children and they were both born in Mason Co, KY according to separate biographies in Beers' History of Brown Co, OH (1883). This Benjamin served in the War of 1812 and his widow applied for a pension. As far as the Mary Applegate, I need to do some more digging on her. I took a quick look at the Mason Co tax records for the years 1827-1830 but didn't see anyone who might have been Mary's husband. It was a very quick look though, so I may have missed something. I will have to those over again more carefully.
