I do think she was hoping to find an ancestor who served in the Revolutionary War and hoped to find that connection in our Jenkins/Cooper or Cochran/Chandler lines. However, she succumbed to Alzheimers before this occurred. I don't know if they admit members posthumously but if I find a connection for her, I'd give it a whirl in her memory. She'd be ecstatic. I am descended from Malinda Cooper and John Jenkins' daughter Nancy Ann Jenkins and her first husband, Thomas Shehane. Nancy Ann lists her address as "Cooperstown, Ohio County, IN" in a letter to a cousin. I'm glad I posted! I got results and I thank you very much! I visited Mt. Pleasant Cemetery (Ohio County IN) in late June of this year where Malinda Cooper Jenkins and many of her family are buried and found it in good condition. Malinda's stone is in remarkably good shape. However, per a cousin who guided me around and helped me identify Thomas Shehane's grave, there were many more stones in the low lying area of the cemetery before the late 1950s when the cemetery was vandalized. Although both Nancy Ann Jenkins Shehane Pate's husbands are buried in Mt. Pleasant, Nancy is buried in Littlefield Cemetery, Switzerland County, IN. near her youngest child and my great-grandfather Charles Shehane.
