When I was in USGenWeb I noticed that records for early Bracken Co were listed in Mason Co. Why is this? I'm going to try to write Bracken Co Historical Soc today to see if they can locate marriage bond for my Elizabeth Henry Applegat. I'm somewhat confused right now as receiving quite a lot of John Todd Henry & fam info in Boone Co Mo 1850's, as Elizabeth was in Bracken Co Ky & living in the household of a Wm Henry, I'm really about to the conclusion the info I have on John Todd & Harriet Coleman Henry as parents to her is incorrect. Sorry, I'm just going insane with the Henry search, once again. Seems I get into this once a year, it makes me crazy then I forget it until the next year again. That's correct, Toni. Bracken County was formed in 1796 from portions of Mason County and Campbell County. After the county lines were redrawn, the 'new' Bracken countians still had relatives, got married, and owned property in the parent county (and vice versa). For researchers who may overlook that fact, the links to databases on other county websites can help them find records they would otherwise miss. Thanks for asking!
