    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Wallingford Applegate Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WBB.2ACI/2950.1.1 Message Board Post: Terri, The Mary Applegate who married Jesse Cooper in Mason Co was a daughter of Jacob Applegate. Jacob Applegate & Elizabeth Cooper jointly consented to their marriage. I have a copy of the original consent and bond. According to family tradition, Jacob Applegate married Prudence Wallingford. Prudence was allegedly a daughter of Benjamin and Prudence Wallingford. Direct evidence of the marriage of Jacob Applegate to Prudence Wallingford and of the relationship between Prudence Applegate to Benjamin Wallingford is lacking. Nevertheless, there is some circumstantial evidence that does suggest a relationship. The Applegates and some of the Wallingfords came to Mason County from Berkeley Co, VA (now WV). Some of the Wallingfords & Coopers migrated to Dearborn County, IN--mostly the part that later became Ohio Co in the 1840s. I have more tidbits but won't go into all that here. I have not done as much work on the Coopers as I have done on the Wallingfords. The Coopers are not in my direct line, however, I can't help getting into them as they are closely tied to the Wallingfords in KY & Ohio Co, IN. I do not know who Jesse Cooper's father was, however, it would appear from the marriage consent I mentioned above that his mother was Elizabeth Cooper. I have a transcript of Malinda's Cooper Jenkins' death record and it states Malinda was born in Maysville, KY. Since Jesse Cooper and Mary Applegate were married in Mason Co in 1806, it would appear that Malinda was indeed born there. I believe Jesse Cooper was enumerated on the 1810 census in Mason Co but I don't have the citation handy. There are Applegates EVERYWHERE and many of them use the same names, Benjamin, Richard, Daniel, etc. There is a lot of misinformation on them on the net so be careful about using any info you find, especially if it is not documented. You mentioned that your aunt was pursuing a WIlliam Applegate listed in the DAR's records. Was she a DAR member?

    3. We have a Peter Applegate that came to Jackson County, Oregon. Is he one of your ancestors. He took a lot of pictures here in Jackson County, OR. Not related but just thought I would ask.
