    2. Ginny: I answer to some of your questions about Fauquier County, Virginia. I that area there were iron ore deposits. The Governor of Virginia invited iimigrants from Iron producing region of Nassau-Siegen of Germany to come and work the Iron ore in Faquier. My Ancestor Peter Heite (Hitt) migrated to Virginia in 1714. They settled Germantown also named Germana in Prince William County, now known as Fauquier County. They became known as the Germana Settlement. Some of the names are Holtzclaw, Kemper, Martin, Fishback, Otterbach and Koontz. A David White married a Mary Koontz and were deeded land Feb 17, 1803 from John Koontz. There was a great migration from Fauquier County, VA. to Kentucky around 1790. My ancestor Aaron Hitt came about that time to Mason county. If you want more information on Fauquier County there is an organization called The memorial Foundation of the Germana Colonies in Virginia, Inc. Their address is PO Box 693 Culpepper, VA 22701, phone 540-825-1919. Web page _webmaster@summit.net_ (mailto:webmaster@summit.net) . They have many publications on the imigrants to Fauquier. The organization owns 270 acres of the orginal land and there is a College. There is also a excellent Book available "Ancestry and Descendants of the Nassau-Siegen Imigrants to Virginia 1714-1750 by B.C. Holtzclaw.". Don Lee
