Can any one help? Trying to find any info on Rebecca Ann Shaffer who was born in Pa Died in Maysville Mason County, KY Was married to: Matthew Gray born 1747 in Pa Died about DEC-1836 in Mason County, KY? Thanks for your time. Jim Gray
The problem with the early German families in PA is that they named their daughters with a name they rarely used. Maria, Anna, etc. Then called them by their middle names. It makes it very difficult to trace them unless you have a marriage record. It appears they married in Lancaster Co PA luckily. They have wonderful records there. Contact the genealogical society for Lancaster Co PA and inquire about their marriage record. Ancestry. com has much info but like everywhere else, it is submitted by other researchers and no sources are listed. However, it is a wonderful starting point. Matthew Gray born ca 1747 Lancaster Co PA, died 1836 Mill Creek, Mason Co KY. Married Ann/Nancy _____ b 1750 Fleming, KY, d 20 Jan 1852 Mays Lick, Mason Co KY> md ca 1776 PA { Here is a classic of what I said in my first paragraph. She is listed as born in KY and married in PA???] Children posted for them; Andrew, Nancy, William H., Mary, James, Harrison, Augustus,, Isaac, Samuel, Alexander, John b ca 1777 Lancaster, PA, and Thomas b 1817- [too much of an age gap here] Some submitters said Ann/Nancy was Rebecca Shaffer} Matthew Gray son of; John Gray and Rachel Ross. Ch. Matthew b ca 1747 Bart, Lancaster, PA John Gray Archibald b ca 1757 Chillisquaque, Northumberland, PA. John Gray was son of: Matthew Gray b 1768 Lancaster PA [Obviously this date is too early for him to be father of John above who married Rachel. Matthew died 19 Oct 1768 [same year he was born- must be a typo] in Bart, Lancaster, PA. He married Isabella, Children; Jacob, James, Rebecca, John, Jennet, Elizabeth **************** Above needs lots of proving but may have some new clue to follow up on? ******************* ·:*¨¨*:·.~* Ginny *~.·:*¨¨*:·.
