This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. (The Van Loo Cigar Company, in fact, made a name for itself by rolling the La Polina cigar in the early 20th century.) In November 1918 he died in Maysville, Kentucky, but according to his death certificate his body was shipped back to Chicago. I have two questions: 1. One of Ken Downing's posts mentioned an article from the Kentucky Post on tobacco farming in Kentucky. Can Ken or another board expert could point me to the exact date that article appeared or offer to send me a copy? I would be very grateful. 2. Since this Newlander is in a collateral line, I have not done any research beyond obtaining the death certificate from the state, and determining that the funeral home where his body was held before shipment back to Chicago no longer exists. I'd like to find any documents relating to his purchase of the land (perhaps in partnership with Louis Wolf aka Louis Newlander) or long-distance management of the tobacco farm -- what should be my next step? This is my first RootsWeb post and any help will be greatly appreciated. Jane Neff Rollins La Crescenta CA USA
