Ginny: Mason County is a county in Kentucky, which at one time was a county in Virginia called Kentucky County. Many Kentuckians migrated from Fauquier Co VA.. The Hitt family was one of the families. Don Lee
Don, Thank you for contacting me about Mason Co KY being part of Virginia. We covered that this past week on site telling what the original counties of KY were and what names they became during the late 1700's. [ After state being given over by Virginia. ] I did find one Hitt in KY census book of 1790. Elias Hitt Fayette Co 2/27/1790 [ Fayette would have become Mason Co] There were several Hite's there in 1790 ; Hite's were; Abraham Sr. Isaac Joseph Thomas I would imagine sometimes, those two names were mixed up. Good to hear from you. Wish I could make contact with some White surname families [ or Waddell and Bailey] that moved from Fauquier Co VA to Mason Co KY ca 1785 or a bit later. Would like to know if Mason Co KY land was given for military service to Virginia soldiers? Anyone with any clues? .·:*¨¨*:·.~* Ginny *~.·:*¨¨*:·.
