Paintsville is in Johnson County in Eastern KY. Johnson County was pretty much rock solid pro-Union in the War Between the States, so chances are that any ancestors you had from there in the War would have been Union Soldiers, but there's no Nat'l Cemetery nearby as far as I know. The only major National Cemeteries with which I am familiar in KY. are Camp Nelson N.C. in Jessamine Co. in Central KY. and Zachary Taylor N.C. in Louisville. Interestingly, Johnson County's neighbor, Floyd Co (county seat - Prestonsburg) was strongly Confederate in its sympathies. --- Jennie & Bob Cox <robert21003@cox.net> wrote: > Good morning John and Carolyn: > Two things to keep in mind when searching for the > burial sites of your Civil > War dead: > (1) Only Union soldiers are typically buried in > national cemeteries.
