I am also descended from Rodney and Susan (Pierce) Clark. They were my 3-greats grandparents. Their son John Joseph was my gg-grandfather. I too have tried to find if Joseph was Rodney's father. Lynn, I'm descended from their youngest child, Taylor Clark. I have as Rodney's and Susan's children: Mary Lydia, Caroline Matilda, John J (Jack)--is this your John Joseph?--Frank M, Sarah Elizabeth (Betsy), William Andrew (Buddy), Burk Pierce (Diner), Ida R (who married George Weaver), Louis P, and then my Taylor, who married Angie Bertha Cherry. Taylor and Bertha had 4 children: Clyde, Bertha, Amy, & Anna (my grandmother.) The 1850 census for Mason Co., shows a John Clark and a Charles Clark--both as farm hands and living with Rodney and Susan--I think they must be more brothers-- Another thing that makes think that Joseph and Polly are indeed the parents of Rodney, is that their first daughter was named Mary (& Polly is the nickname of the time for Mary) and now that you've told me that their 1st son was named John Joseph. Of course, that's not proof, but it sure seems we must be on the right track. I don't really have anything on the other children other than the dates of the births & nicknames for some of them I'd certainly appreciate any information that you'd be willing to share. And I will certainly tell you anything that I know. I have a picture of Susan-a snapshot that I took at a cousin's house--she has the original--if you don't have that, I can email it to you. I'm sure you'd like to see her. There is no picture of Rodney that I'm aware of--we haven't even been able to find his burial site.
